Centro-Metalcut to Build New Traveling Track Grinder for Ohio Steel Producer

Caledonia, Illinois (August 24, 2020) – Centro-Metalcut, a USA based leading manufacturer of abrasive saws and conditioning grinders for the steel industry, has recently secured an order to design and build a new Track Grinder, also known as a traveling grinder.  This is the second machine order from this steel producer in 2 years; the first was built in 2019.

 The Track Grinder, currently in production in Centro-Metalcuts’ facility near Rockford, IL features a 250HP main grinding motor at a 45-degree orientation to the material being processed, which is mounted on a rugged platform that traverses on heavy-duty rails along the material.  The Track Grinder operates at speeds up to 100 feet per minute, with quick reversal speeds.  Industry leading control technology compliment the complete system for superior surface finishes.

 Included with the grinder system is an inline slab turning system for maximized grinding efficiency.  To complete the grinding system a 15,000 CFM high efficiency cartridge dust collector with HEPA filtration is being supplied.

Centro-Metalcut Completes a New Abrasive Cutoff Saw for a Global Steel Producer in Mexico

Caledonia, Illinois (January 27, 2020) – Centro-Metalcut, a leading manufacturer of abrasive saws and conditioning grinders for the steel industry, recently installed an abrasive cutoff saw for a Global Steel Producer located in Monterrey, Mexico.  

The 75HP Abrasive Saw features a 34” abrasive cut off wheel that will be used to cut forged rings for the aerospace and wind turbine industry. The saw is equipped with a rotary clamping chuck capable of holding rings 15.75” (400mm) – 59” (1500mm) in diameter, with thickness from 1” (25mm) to 6” (150mm). Centro-Metalcut expects the customer to increase production by up to 400% with a lower tooling cost compared to the band sawing they were previously using. The machine is also equipped with several modern safety features.  

In addition, the cutoff saw will contain the same innovative features of all Centro-Metalcut equipment, such as constant load and pressure monitoring, constant surface speed and increased blade life.

The machine is currently being installed in Mexico, with an expected completion date in early February.

Centro-Metalcut is Installing a New Ring Cutting Saw for Global Steel Producer in Mexico

Rockford, Illinois (March 25, 2019) – Centro-Metalcut, a leading manufacturer of abrasive saws and conditioning grinders for the steel industry, has been awarded a new machine build for a Global Steel Producer located in Monterrey, Mexico.  Centro-Metalcut will begin production on the new Ring Cutting Saw this Spring.  

The 75HP Ring Saw will be used for high alloy, forged materials for the Aerospace industry.  The saw features a rotatory clamping chuck to secure and rotate the material during the cutting process. Centro-Metalcut expects the customer will see significant production increases over traditional band sawing methods. The machine is also equipped with several safety features allowing for safe operation.  

While this machine is specialized for this customer’s application, the saw will contain the same innovative features of all Centro-Metalcut equipment, such as constant load and pressure monitoring, constant surface speed and increased blade life.  We are excited to expand our product offering for the ring production market.
